Bot upload

As you suggested, I split the big image in 1019 icons and uploaded them all with my bot.

I named them using the data from /Public/Main/GUI/icons.lsx with a "DOS_" prefix to avoid any conflict with other Divinity games. It should match exactly the data "Icon" parameter from the skill file. Feel free to rename the icons if you prefer to have a name consistent with the skill.

You can find the list here. Hope it helps. Chriskang (talk) 19:15, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading all the icons, but I can't edit files names without administrative right. Too bad you couldn't get the data "DisplayNameRef" directly, that would have been the more user friendly. I'll check if it is possible/easy to make a template to redirect "DisplayNameRef" to "icon". Ibete (talk) 20:30, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
Sadly, I don't think it's that easy. If you look at /Mods/Main/CharacterCreation/ClassPresets/Battlemage.lsx, you'll see a "ClassLongDescription" that is not the one seen in game. And I'm pretty sure it could be the same with skill text (name and description). As far as I understand it, I think that the game uses the data "DisplayName" as a unique identifier for the skill ; then searches for this identifier in /Public/Main/Localization/Stats.lsb (this is the UUID attribute), then gets the corresponding handle and finally gets the localized (English) string in /Data/Localization/English/english.xml
In the end, it seems that the localized string always has a higher priority than the DisplayNameRef.
I'll try to see if I can extract all these data in a few days. Chriskang (talk) 21:53, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
It's okay, I've made Template:Icon, it's a bit massive but it seem to work for skills. Ibete (talk) 23:05, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
Looks like there are a few mistakes in your template. DOS Skill Warrior CureWounds.png Cure Wounds points to the Skill_Water_Regenerate_Minor instead of Skill_Warrior_CureWounds. Chriskang (talk) 00:32, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
You fixed it while I was writing. Good job. Chriskang (talk) 07:27, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

CSS to rotate the map?

How do I rotate the map with CSS? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eain (talkcontribs)

http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css3_pr_transform.asp Ibete (talk) 08:11, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
Done. You might have to ctrl+F5 the page to see the change. Chriskang (talk) 10:55, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
Where can I see/inspect that gamemaps class? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eain (talkcontribs)
MediaWiki:Hydra.css or using the developers tool in your browser to inspect the css. You can also check who changed what on the Special:RecentChanges page linked on the sidebar. And you should sign your comments with ~~~~ to make the conversation easier to follow. Ibete (talk) 18:03, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
Hmm like this? ~~~~ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eain (talkcontribs)
Skip the nowiki tags, they prevent formating. =) And a preview would have shown you that it didn't work! Preview are goods! They allow you to test anything and understand how it work (or not) Ibete (talk) 20:37, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Int/Dex/Str in Skill template

May I ask what these parameters are? I'm not able to find them in the data file or even in game. For example, what does the "Dexterity: 9" means here ? Chriskang (talk) 12:07, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

It's the stat 'requirement' for the skill, used to calculate the penalty/boost (-10% per stat point under the level, +5% per stat point above as far as I know). It may be wrong, since I didn't find the data in any file but on http://www.rpguides.de/divinity-original-sin/. Any idea to make it more obvious? Ibete (talk) 18:18, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
As far as I know, it only depends from the skill level. I'll check that to confirm. Also, I'm currently trying to setup my bot to make it upload all skills from the data file (including enemy skills). The wiki code will be generated automatically and will induce massive changes to the skill template. Don't panic if I break everything in the coming hours/days ;) Chriskang (talk) 20:08, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, the stat requirement is probably based on the skill level, like the ability requirement, but it's a good information to have on every skill page. Since you'll automate everything, could you include the ability level as well in the infobox? screw that, it could be done in the infobox template instead (which I guess will need a massive visual upgrade after) And can you include a "safe to edit" part in your template, so we can add things like tips/tricks and still make automated update with your program? Thanks for your work! Ibete (talk) 20:39, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
So, I've got 432 pages like this one that are generated on my computer and ready to be uploaded by the bot. If you have comments or suggestions, the time is now. Chriskang (talk) 14:03, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
I'd like to see more info in the infobox, like the range and level/stat/ability requirement, so you can easily see what you need and how to use the skill. Maybe add a __NOTOC__ tag? And some info about the low/high stat bonus (-10%/+0%/+5%/+10% etc) with the cooldown reduction table would be nice too. Great job! Ibete (talk) 19:28, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Here's a new generated page: Magical Poison Arrow. I didn't took the time to update the infobox but if you look at the source code, you'll see that the requested information is there. I'm not sure if I want to have it on the skill pages though, we'll discuss it later if you don't mind. More comments? Chriskang (talk) 18:10, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
Well, it's an info box, it's made to provide info. Reading the whole page just to know the range or the stat requirement of a skill sucks. For the rest of the page, maybe combining the damage and the cooldown tables? But it can wait a second version, I think this is good for now. 432 pages seem a bit too much, aren't you including the enemy skills as well (xxxxxx_{E})? I doubt we'll need them anytime soon, so you can skip them if it save you some time. Ibete (talk) 21:22, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello there

Hey Ibete, I'm the new bureaucrat around these parts and I just wanted to drop in and say hi. If you need anything, such as infoboxes, templates, CSS fixes, deletions, or promotions to admin positions, just leave a message at my talk page. :) Tagaziel (talk) 16:57, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello Tagaziel, thanks for checking on us! We seem to be fine for now, but we'll keep you informed if we have any issue we can't fix ourselves! Ibete (talk) 20:12, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
